Xeomin is a type of Botulinum Toxin A. It is a protein derived from Clostridium botulinum. Xeomin is also called incobotulinumtoxinA. It relaxes the muscles between the eyebrows as well as other intended muscles, softening the appearance of wrinkles and reducing pain or other issues from overactive muscles.
Xeomin, like its counterparts Botox and Dysport, is a neuromodulation that blocks the connection between the nerves. It temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines. These muscles are the Procerus muscle and Corrugator Superficialis muscles.
Uses And Effects Of XEOMIN
XEOMIN treats primarily muscle spasms in the eyelid, known as Blepharospasm, and pain in the head and neck caused by Cervical Dystonia. Doctors have been prescribing this drug since 2005, and it effectively treats these conditions, even if Botox caused the Blepharospasm.
Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA) causes relaxation of facial muscles. Xeomin® wrinkle blocker works by blocking the communication between nerve endings and their surrounding muscles. Xeomin® is injected into specific regions to treat overactive muscles that cause wrinkles with facial animation. The effect of Xeomin® is temporary and repeat treatments are necessary periodically to maintain the softening of facial furrows and creases.
